In 2018-2019, Umar co-facilitated GIZ’s Central Asia flagship Leadership Program “Leader for Change in Climate Change''. Umar designed and facilitated a year-long training for 25 competitively selected practitioners from five Central Asian countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tadjikistan and Turkmenistan) working on climate change in government, academia, private sector, international organizations, and non-profits. Through experiential learning, the participants were equipped with different tools and frameworks essential for mobilizing people to deploy adaptation and mitigation solutions and eventually better climate.
Tools used: Adaptive Leadership, Theory- U, System Dynamics, Immunity to Change, Design Thinking, Foresight Strategic Planning.
Mode: Offline and Online. The training took place across three different country locations: Kyrgyzstan, Georgia, and Germany.
